In the years following their acquisition of Arris, CommScope faced many challenges as it underwent the merging of two major finance organizations. During this time, they moved to a shared services environment, which allowed CommScope’s finance team to have a greater focus on improving operations while realizing greater efficiencies, cost savings, and proactive measures to ensure tax compliance.
As part of CommScope’s continuous improvement and standardization process, Alex Meyer, Director of Shared Services at CommScope, engaged apexanalytix to audit all CommScope entities. This service provided an external review of payments and outlined opportunities to prevent overpayments in the future. After the success of routine AP recovery audits, the CommScope team decided to expand their audit program to include sales and use tax, unclaimed property, and freight rate compliance. This comprehensive approach to ensures CommScope maximizes their recoveries in partnership with apexanalytix.

Alex joined CommScope in 2015 as the Director of Operations Accounting. He was responsible for leading a staff of 55 cost accounting professionals and all aspects of the global cost accounting function in over 50 manufacturing and distribution locations worldwide. In 2020, he was assigned to his current role as Director of Shared Services Operations with a heavy focus on standardization, process improvement and cost reductions based on lean principles.
Prior to joining CommScope, Alex held various leadership roles with multiple Fortune 500 companies including International Paper, ConAgra Foods, Trane, Ingersoll-Rand, and Precision Castparts. Alex is a graduate of the University of Michigan Executive Development Program. Additionally, he served in Operation Desert Storm as an officer in the United States Navy upon graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
As Vice President, Commercial Audit Operations, Pete leads the apexanalytix commercial audit division and works directly with clients on strategic client audits. His team is responsible for the oversight, management, and client satisfaction of commercial audit engagements. His goals are to ensure audits are completed timely, that they meet or exceed revenue expectations and performance objectives, and they deliver client value in recovered monies and enhanced internal controls.
Pete has been in Operations for over 25 years, the past 20 in management. Prior to joining APEX, Pete’s career experience includes public accounting, tax preparation and auditing. Pete holds a BA in Corporate Communications with a Business Administration Minor from Elon University. Pete is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA, NCACPA, IIA.
